Born on December 2, 1924, in Hamilton, Ontario, he was a Canadian actor known for his role as the vampire Barnabas Collins on the gothic television series "Dark Shadows" (1967-1971). He graduated from McMaster University and studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. After serving in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II, he pursued a career in theater before achieving fame on television. Post-"Dark Shadows," he returned to theater and occasionally appeared in films. He passed away on April 13, 2012.
