In 1752, the Collins family moves from Liverpool, England to Maine. The son, Barnabas Collins, grows up to be a rich and powerful playboy in Collinsport, Maine, until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard, a witch who curses him into becoming a vampire and buries him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into a very different world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find his once-grand estate in ruin.
