In 2022, the United States becomes a dystopian society that celebrates an annual 12-hour purge, during which all crime, including murder, is legal. This government-sanctioned event is intended to serve as a cathartic release for citizens and reduce crime rates for the rest of the year. The film follows the wealthy Sandin family, who face a night of terror when their home is invaded by purgers seeking a man who has taken refuge inside. They must navigate complex moral dilemmas and fight for their survival.
