The Outwaters follows a quartet of friends who shoot a low-budget travelogue in a remote Mojave Desert. What begins as a casual camping trip rapidly descends into a lethal, hallucinatory nightmare as strange sounds, distortions, and inexplicable events shatter their sense of reality. Rendered as raw, found-footage cinema, the film sustains a creeping dread, pushing paranoia, claustrophobia, and cosmic horror to the fore while leaving conclusions ambiguous and terrifying.
