Nowhere in Africa follows a German Jewish family that escapes Nazi Germany by moving to rural Kenya in the 1930s. Jettel, the mother, tries to preserve German routines on a remote farm while her husband Walter negotiates a precarious new life among settlers and locals. Their daughter Regina grows up emotionally torn between two cultures, blending and clashing traditions. The film traces exile, assimilation, and resilience amid the costs of belonging.
