Hairspray is a 1988 American dance comedy film directed by John Waters. It follows the story of a plump teenager named Tracy Turnblad who dreams of dancing on a TV show. With the help of her friends, Tracy works to integrate the show and promote racial equality in 1960s Baltimore.
