Gran Torino is a 2008 film directed by and starring Clint Eastwood. The story follows Walt Kowalski, a gruff Korean War veteran living in a changing Detroit neighborhood. Following the attempted theft of his prized Gran Torino car by his Hmong teenage neighbor, Thao, Walt reluctantly becomes involved with the boy and his family. Through their interactions, Walt confronts his own prejudices and past, ultimately finding redemption and purpose in protecting Thao from gang influences.
