Escape from Alcatraz is a 1979 American biographical prison thriller film based on the 1963 non-fiction book of the same name by J. Campbell Bruce. It follows the story of Frank Morris, the only inmate to successfully escape from the notorious Alcatraz Island prison in 1962.
