Appleseed is a 2004 Japanese animated science fiction film directed by Shinji Aramaki. The story is set in the year 2131, following a devastating world war. It follows Deunan Knute, a former soldier, who is brought to the utopian city of Olympus, where humans and genetically engineered beings known as Bioroids coexist. As Deunan learns more about the city's utopian society, she uncovers dark secrets and becomes involved in a struggle to protect the city's future.
