And Then We Danced follows Merab, a disciplined dancer in Tbilisi's national ballet school, who dreams of becoming a principal. His carefully ordered life is upended when Irakli, a gifted new dancer, arrives and they form a forbidden, passionate bond. Caught between tradition, family expectations and his own desires, Merab must decide who he is and what he’s willing to risk for art and love. The film fuses electrifying choreography with intimate, painful self-discovery in a culture wary of LGBTQ+ expression.
