Set in 1987 Romania under Ceaușescu, 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days follows Gabita (Laura Vasiliu), who seeks an illegal abortion with the help of her resourceful roommate Otilia (Anamaria Marinca). In a society ruled by surveillance, shortages, and fear, the two women navigate a clandestine plan to terminate a pregnancy while confronting moral compromises, coercion, and the constant threat of exposure. The film's spare realism and intimate camera work create a tense, urgent portrait of female autonomy under oppression.
