Colin Higgins
An Australian-American screenwriter, director, and producer, he gained fame for his work in the late 20th century. Initially studying to become a diplomat, he shifted to film, earning an MFA from UCLA. His breakout came with the screenplay for "Harold and Maude" (1971), which led to directing opportunities. Known for his flair in comedy and drama, he directed hits like "Foul Play" (1978) and "9 to 5" (1980). His career was cut short when he passed away in 1988 due to AIDS-related illnesses.
