Bruce Robinson
An English filmmaker, screenwriter, novelist, and actor, he gained prominence for writing and directing the cult classic "Withnail and I" (1987), based on his own experiences as a struggling actor. Born in London in 1946, he studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama. He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for "The Killing Fields" (1984). His other works include "How to Get Ahead in Advertising" (1989) and "The Rum Diary" (2011). His career is marked by a distinctive blend of dark humor and satire.
