Born in Los Angeles in 1917, he served in the Navy during World War II before studying acting under the G.I. Bill. He gained early recognition on Broadway before transitioning to film and television. Best known for his role as Paladin in the TV series "Have Gun – Will Travel," he became a household name in the 1950s and 60s. With a rugged on-screen presence, he starred in numerous Westerns and dramas. Later, he became involved in directing and teaching acting. He passed away in 1981.
